Tuohy’s NXN win earns her USATF Athlete of the Week honors
INDIANAPOLIS --
Katelyn Tuohy
(Thiells, New York) won the girls title at the Nike XC Nationals to earn USATF Athlete of the Week.
Tuohy, a senior at North Rockland High School, won her record third NXN title in a row on the rain-soaked course at Portland’s Glendoveer Golf Course, traversing the 5km course in 17:18.4 to hold off the challenges of Taylor Ewert and Sydney Thorvaldson in the final stretch. The 2019 high school track list leader at 1,500m, 3,000m and two miles, Tuohy led most of the way and battled through the mud to triumph in the closest girls finish in NXN history, .7 seconds ahead of Ewert with Thorvaldson another .3 seconds back.
