INDIANAPOLIS -- USATF has promoted Dr. Robert Chapman to Director of Sports Science and Medicine and Leah Testa to Associate Director of Merchandise and Retail Operations, USATF announced. Dr. Robert Chapman joined USATF in June of 2010 as the associated director of sports science and medicine. He works as part of the high performance team administering sports science and medicine programs with a large part of his role requiring travel around the globe running scientific testing programs for elite athletes. Chapman is also a faculty member at Indiana University in Bloomington where his research centers on altitude training strategies and limitations to elite athlete performances. He also served as Indiana University men’s cross country coach from 1998 until 2007. He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in 1991 and earned a master’s degree in exercise physiology in 1992 and a Ph.D. in human performance in 1996 both from Indiana University. Leah Testa joined USATF in July 2013 as a merchandise sales coordinator. She was promoted to the merchandise buying coordinator in 2014 and merchandise manager in 2016 before stepping into her new role as the associate director. Testa oversees the merchandise department and is responsible for forecasting and buying the merchandise sold in the Team USATF Store and at events throughout the country. She works with her team on merchandise marketing, event planning, warehouse logistics and order fulfillment. Testa graduated from Syracuse University in 2011 with a degree in fashion design where she also competed in the pole vault on the track and field team, tying the indoor school record.
