MIRAMAR, Fla. — Two non-athlete participants tested positive for COVID-19 just prior to the Miramar Invitational, the second stop on the USATF Journey to Gold - Tokyo Outdoor Series. Both people who tested positive were asymptomatic. USATF immediately did contact tracing and the persons affected were immediately put in quarantine. “The system is doing what it was designed to do -- protect athletes,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. USATF engaged Premier Medical Group (PMG) which administered 240 tests over two days in Miramar and 174 tests last weekend in Prairie View. All Journey to Gold meets and the U.S. Olympic Trials - Track and Field will have enhanced testing protocols. PMG administers the COVID-19 on-site testing at the events on the Journey to Gold - Tokyo Outdoor Series. USATF’s COVID protocols for events may be found here.
